Walking Each Other Home

A blurry image of a woman aged 50+, of Hawaiian and Ryukyuan descent, wearing black glasses and a big toothy smile. She has her hands raised in excitement, dressed in a white garment that resembles an angel’s outfit.

Walking Each Other Home

by Stacy Makishi

When: Saturday 7 June 2025
Time: 2-5pm (doors open at 1.30pm)
Where: Stables Theatre, The Bourne, Hastings, East Sussex, TN34 3BD
Ticket Price: £17/14 conc. Early bird tickets £10 until 27th March 2025.

Join artist Stacy Makishi for a performance experiment that is part ritual, part workshop, part story and part party.

“What happens when our curiosity becomes larger than our fears?
How do our hearts shift when we openly share our struggles?
What does playfulness have to do with ritual?”

With generous scoops of her characteristic aloha, Stacy will begin by sharing intimate stories that will move us into our hearts, that move into sacred rituals, that move into stupid games with crappy prizes, that move into reclaiming our true selves, that move into some very awkward, uncool, “moves” known to some as dancing.

This interactive event welcomes you just as you are - especially the imperfect, messy, awkward, shy, "not good enough" parts of you.

Over the course of the three hours you are welcome to take part as much or as little as you like, observe, exit and enter the space as you wish, and take breaks in a dedicated space with light refreshments.

Part of Giddy Up, bringing daring performance from LGBTQ+ artists to the stages of Hastings - queer at heart, welcoming to all. View the full Giddy Up 2025 line up.
