Join artist Stacy Makishi for a performance experiment that is part ritual, part workshop, part story and part party.

“What happens when our curiosity becomes larger than our fears?
How do our hearts shift when we openly share our struggles?
What does playfulness have to do with ritual?”

With generous scoops of her characteristic aloha, Stacy will begin by sharing intimate stories that will move us into our hearts, that move into sacred rituals, that move into stupid games with crappy prizes, that move into reclaiming our true selves, that move into some very awkward, uncool, “moves” known to some as dancing.

This interactive event welcomes you just as you are - especially the imperfect, messy, awkward, shy, "not good enough" parts of you.

Over the course of the three hours you are welcome to take part as much or as little as you like, observe, exit and enter the space as you wish, and take breaks in a dedicated space with light refreshments.

Stacy Makishi is a transplant from Hawaii who found paradise in Dalston, London in 1993. Like a bonsai plant, she is small but old, and has been making art and infecting folks with curiosity and creativity for over 40 years.
This work is still in development.

It explores themes of grief, loss, and belonging and may contain images of a sexual nature. The content notice will be updated as the work progresses.
Recommended age guidance of 16 years plus.

This is an event where noise, movement and re-entry are welcomed. This approach is designed to make our events more accessible for neurodivergent individuals or anyone who requires a more flexible environment.

Building Access
A Gender-neutral toilet is available

The Stables have seats are available in rows A and B for patrons with mobility, visual or hearing impairments and their assistants.
There are spaces for wheelchair users in row A, which can be accessed without any stairs. Wheelchair users are requested to book these seats via the Box Office on (01424) 423221 so they can best cater for any additional requirements.
Platform lifts, for a wheelchair user or one seated person, enable access to the first-floor bar. There is also wheelchair-accessible toilet on the ground floor.
