The Fete returned to the National Theatre's Watch this Space Festival for the fourth consecutive year as part of the all-new It's Great Outdoors! event put together by home live art and Clare Patey. A riotous bank holiday weekend of radical craft makers, quirky produce stalls and innovative performances offered a modern, urban twist on tradition within the South Bank's concrete jungle. The Fete at National Trust property Tattershall Castle, Lincolnshire - A stunning six storey red-brick medieval castle build by Ralph Cromwell, Lord Treasurer of England in 1434, will be part of the new 'Dark Materials' Programme – A month-long series of art commissions and events bringing together an unlikely alliance between devotees of the National Trust, Biker Culture and related themes. Expect Heavy Metal face painting, best-in-show motorbikes, rockabilly barn dancing, corsetry demos and other neo-gothic delights! BRIGHTON: 29th October, 6pm-1am, White Night Festival, Old Steine Gardens, Brighton, E.Sussex BN1 1E. The Fete in Brighton City Centre forms part of the renowned all night White Night festival, where the entire city is invited to inhabit the streets till dawn in celebration of the end of British summer time and the extra hour clocks go back and we descend into darkness. White Night 2011 is themed around utopias. The night time setting gives license to delve into the darker side of folk, so you'll find everything you'd expect at a fete but with a nocturnal edge...Engaging the most exciting artist and creatives from the city and beyond, visitors to the Alternative Village Fete's stage and stalls will encounter experiences that take them from deco tea rooms, swing dancing and vintage glamour makeovers to pop video routines, food flinging olympics, dark midnight rituals and everything in between! Artists include: Cut a Shine Collective, Tom Marsham, 815Agency, Ragroof Theatre, Plunge Boom, Riff Raff Cakes, The Skip Sisters, Swing Patrol, Garudio Studiage, Sophie Herxheimer, Rock a Hula!, Victoria Melody, Nu Urban Gardeners, and DJ El Nino, hosted by MC Paul L Martin.
